Body Art

Brandon Downing is a poet, visual artist, curator and filmmaker. His published collections include The Shirt Weapon (2002), Dark Brandon (2005), At Me (2011) and Mellow Actions (2013). A monograph of his language-driven collages from 1996 to 2008, Lake Antiquity, was published by Fence Books in 2010. Recent projects include an inaccurate, visually-driven, sixteen-book translation of Euripides' The Bacchae; a visual novel detailing the affair between John Keats and Emily Dickinson, and The Americans, a sequel to Robert Frank’s seminal 1958 survey. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, he lives in New York's Hudson Valley.
